Hunter Designs

Hunter Designs was set up by Simon Hunter over 10 years ago to provide individual design services primarily to the domestic market for clients seeking a unique design for their concepts. Simon brings a wealth of design and construction experience to his designs. Not only being a designer but one who can actually build the finished article. This allows him to accurately detail the plans and specifications for the client and contractor.

As a Chartered Civil Engineer and an Architectural Technologist he can work on the artistic design of your scheme through the structural detailing and building control elements to service designs such as water and waste water services and treatment requirements.

I graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1989 with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering.

​

I kicked off my working life in contracting with Costains building a Trident Nuclear Submarine Docking Bay in the dry dock at Largs.

 

In 1990 I joined Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Department of Water and Sewerage as a Graduate Engineer.

I achieved my Chartered Engineer status in the mid 90’s.

​

Over the last 28 years I have been a Design Engineer, an Asset Planner and a Senior Engineer with Scottish Water.

​

In 2005 I returned part time to my studies graduating with an HND in Architectural Technology at which time I received the Burgess Cup for top student.

This led to my second career of designing house extensions, houses and commercial premises. Taking client briefs from conception to full blown designs and specifications suitable for Planning and Building Warrant applications.

In July 2018, such was the demand for my Architectural Technology services that I left employment with Scottish Water to concentrate full time on my new business and passion.
